We
say Goodbye to our Ole Woodsman
|
|
"This
will be my last column as I will be moving to an
entirely new state soon. I have enjoyed writing
this column, and doing the research. Even though I
will be leaving New England entirely, I will
always be a “Swamp Yankee” (Connecticut
Yankee) in my heart and will probably return to
the area in some future time. It is time for new
adventures, new experiences and new opportunities.
I wish everyone in the village well "- Jan
McLaughlin (aka Old Woodsman).
Our
Woodsman's last column is quite appropriate.
Read about the history of Millbury and our Village right
here.

In
the Ole Woodsman's column you've read interesting facts
from 'the Ole Woodsman'. For almost a year and a half, we
have enjoyed these wise writings and you did not know who
wrote them. Many suspected it was Lennie ;)
At
this time, we sadly say goodbye to our Ole Woodsman. We
have been honored to have Jan McLaughlin provide us with
this column. Jan has always been a vocal advocate of our
land and her passion and love for our village has caused
interesting ripples here over the years. She will be
dearly missed by me and others. We hope she will continue
to send us her thoughts from her new home in a brand new
environment. Thank you Jan. Go with our prayers and loving
wishes.

Excerpt
from "Birding in Eastham, Cape
Cod"
Deciding
I needed to come back at sunrise to this
spot, I proceeded back to the beach. There
are cliffs to the water. Descending the
stairs to the beach, there were promising
compositions with the cliffs, beach and
ocean waves breaking on the beach. One, in
particular, almost has a painterly effect
as I looked at it afterwards. The water
marks on the sand, people in the shot, and
other elements worked. For this shot, I
applied a Photoshop Watercolor filter and
adjusted the curves.
