 Outside Water Faucets

Each fall, remember to shut off and drain the water to your outside faucet to prevent frozen pipes. The shut off valve is on the ceiling of your basement. Homeowners are responsible for any repair resulting from frozen pipes.

Faucets (outdoors)- Fall tasks

  • Shut off interior water valve (in basement ceiling) that leads to outdoor faucet.
  • Open outside faucet and drain water.
  • Loosen air vent valve on interior shut off valve
  • Close air vent valve after all the water has drained out

You do NOT want a pipe to freeze and burst, it is a costly homeowner repair
