October, 2004 - reaching 73 PRVA members

The Most
Important Meeting of the Year
|
Board
Meetings, Minutes, Financials
|
|
The Annual Meeting is Wednesday, Oct 20 at
7pm, Grafton Elementary School. Now is the time to submit your
name to be on the ballot. Deadline to do so is Friday, October
8th.
Please don't be shy. If you have an
honest interest in representing our community, please step
forward and be known. Email the board to have your name put on
the ballot. You can also use this forum to reach our email
members. If you want change, now is the time!!
This
is the meeting where we vote for board members, get a chance
to air our concerns, review the financials, ask questions,
etc. It is always
difficult to get a quorum, which is what is needed to make
these meetings legal. If you pay attention to anything at PRV,
make it this, PLEASE.
|
Minutes for the August meeting are
posted here.
Financials - August 31, 2004 balance sheet is posted
along with the Sept 2003-Aug 2004 P&L Budget vs. Actual.
Both are posted here.
The next regular board meeting is scheduled
for Tuesday, October 12th at 3 Lexington,
6:00p.m. Please
email the board if you are going to attend. All are
welcome!
The password has changed and was sent out to you on
September 20th. If you need
the password, just ask.

The Ole
Woodsman
|
|
What a wonderful event. We have
pictures of 7 units, grouped by unit and by element (like
kitchen, living room, window treatment, lighting, etc.) - link
here. It
started with a simple email. Laurie suggested we think about
an Open House event. That started the ball rolling to what has
turned out to be the most positive social event our Townhouse
Association has had in its 22 years of existence. Not only
that, but there were numerous positive ripple effects. Read
more here! To
navigate to it in the future, go to member/unit changes/house
tour 2004.

This month, the Ole Woodsman tells us about our
mushrooms. We have some very weird mushrooms around
here! A great 'Ecosystem' as he says.

Specific 'channels' of articles are now tied into our site,
under members/misc./articles.
These articles are written by individuals, both amateurs
and professionals. They are chosen by editors in their fields
and are presented to you via syndicated columns. They will
rotate automatically each week, always providing new ideas,
concepts and interesting reading. The selected channels are:
Party and Holidays
Lifestyles, Self-Help, Coaching
Home, Family and Parenting
Blogging is a way to write about whatever you want to. Just
in case anyone needs content to get sleepy by, my blog is
linked in that section also.

Speaking with friends at the yard sale, there
was an enthusiastic response to the pick-up-everything rubbish
event. I heard "my TV just broke...what timing! I can get
rid of it", and "I have paint cans and oil I just
didn't have the time to figure out how to discard, this is
great!". Another resident was so happy to be able to get
rid of some old mattresses! Oil, Paint, TVs, computers,
refrigerators ....anything cluttering your place that was
difficult to dispose of. Getting rid of potential fire hazards
makes us all a little safer!
|
|
Well, did we ever get rid of stuff!!! If we
could weigh our community, it would be a whole lot lighter.
Take a look at some things we disposed of!

and Craft Sale Fall 2004

Adam Young tells us he'll be
hiking and biking in our woods. One of his hobbies is GPS
mapping and tracking and he wants to produce a full map of the
trails overlaid on a TOPO map with our development on it. He
sent this aerial shot of PRV and our woods.

Adam, we'll be watching for your updates!

The weekend finally arrived. Beautiful weather
was requested and received. We have had yard sales twice a
year for several years, so members are comfortable with them.
There was the usual mix of tables and neighbors and buyers. See
all the photos here. We did have a new twist with
the craft table aspect. Two members took advantage of that. More..

very busy this year!

from July 2003, but down 9.2 percent from June 2004, the

The weekend finally
arrived. Beautiful weather was requested and received. We have had yard
sales twice a year for several years, so members are comfortable with
them. There was the usual mix of tables and neighbors and buyers. We did
have a new twist with the craft table aspect. Two members took advantage
of that. Rose had a colorful table of red and purple. Rose is a
group leader for the Red Hat
Society. Her group is called "Rose and her Buds".
Excellent fake 'boa' scarves, hats, ditty bags and lots of other
colorful apparel items. Rebecca hosted a table of wonderful handmade
jewelry and note cards. I thought her specialty was rubber-stamping,
but she has a multitude of crafty ideas. As I write this, I'm wearing
unique green earrings that she made in her oven! The event lasted until
noon. That seems to work well for our members, committing just a few
hours and spending most of them socializing and having fun, then still
having the afternoon to do other things. Many began cleaning out their
garages! |
