| We feel blessed to have such a devilish imp
enter our lives. We burst out laughing when we were sitting at the table
and, all of a sudden, she was eye level. Her whole body! She bounces on
all 4 legs!
Although miniature pinschers appear to be a smaller version
of a Doberman Pinscher, the Min Pin is actually an older breed than the
Doberman, recognized some twenty years earlier. Min Pins were first
recognized in Germany in 1880.
In 1989, there were 5,568 Miniature Pinschers registered in America.
They were ranked the 40th most popular dog. In 1994, there were 16,538
Min Pins registered! In 5 years, registration increased a remarkable
197%. They now rank the 23rd most popular dog in America!

My Doberman, Shania J, is
our office mascot. She frequently goes to the office
with me, and spends her day stealing blueberry muffins
or laying in one little patch of sun from the window.
She greets the UPS and Fed Ex delivery people with a
wagging tail and demand for treats. But her favorite
office past time is shredding her stuffed toys with the
skill of a brain surgeon and making a big mess in my
cubicle.
She loves "rides in the car", long walks on
the wooded trails at prva and is a welcome "freelancer" at my
office in Needham, making the rounds from cubicle to office for a treat
or a scratch behind the ears.
It's hard to believe that Shania J was an
"unwanted" pet that was surrendered to Doberman Rescue
Unlimited, a non-profit organization in Sandown, NH that places more
than 300 Dobermans in loving homes throughout the Northeast.
