Stampin'UP! - Neighbors Open Their
Home
|
| Neighbors Rebecca and Dan Bernzweig recently had an open
house at their PRV home to meet their new neighbors and to introduce us to
Rebecca's hobby and business, rubber stamping. |

|
| Honestly, other than the rubber stamps like
PAID or PAST DUE or RECEIVED, I had never thought of rubber stamping as being a real
'craft'. Just before leaving, a conversation with my 26 year old
daughter made me feel 'out' of touch. I told her I was going to a rubber stamping open house. She
immediately knew what I meant and said it was a popular craft and
'very neat'. So, my curiosity peaked, off I went to meet Rebecca and
Dan, and what a surprise awaited me. |
| The company Rebecca works with is called Stampin'UP!
According to their website, "Stampin'UP!, a 16-year-old, $200-million, direct-sales company, offers an
exclusive line of decorative stamp sets and accessories for home décor,
greeting cards, craft projects and scrapbooking. The company's size and
recent growth reflect the nationwide passion for decorative rubber
stamping."

|
| Rebecca has been a distributor of Stampin'UP for 6
years. She has gone to the national convention held in San Diego more than
once and finds it a very stimulating, exciting event, with lots of
creative juices flying around! Imagine, thousands of Stamping
enthusiasts in one place. New products, new ideas, people exchanging
ideas.
One satisfying aspect of Dan and Rebecca's move into
PRV is that she now has a room specifically for her hobby and obvious
passion. She explains that in their last home, she combined her hobby
with a couple of other things and it wasn't easy to stay organized.
Rebecca's basement room is a perfect place for her to be creative, and
she has done so! While humbly claiming she is not organized, the
cabinets of stamps, shelves of samples, bins of ribbons, papers, inks,
glues, acrylic varnish, embossers, and all the other 'fixins' sure
looked well-organized to us!
This craft is not limited to paper products. With the
waterproof line of ink, just about anything can be stamped. Her first
students of the day, Randy and I made magnets out of dominos! Rebecca
also showed us how easy it is to take a simple paper bag, roll on
stamping, attach a matching tag with glitter string and 'voila', a
decorator bag! This craft is more about letting your creativity flow
than learning a difficult skill. My mind started to think of all the things one comes
across at flea markets, yard sales or in our own closets, that could be
turned in rubber stamping items! Gift bags, game pieces, brown paper
bags, etc. |
| Stampin'UP works as most party plans work.
Rebecca has the flexibility to have a group in her Stamping room for a
workshop or you can be a hostess and she will go to your home to give a
demonstration of the capabilities of the craft. From there, enthusiasts
can purchase the supplies they need, guided by her expert guidance and
ideas. Rebecca tells us she has a group of demonstrators who work with her, and that one of her demonstrators has over 40 demonstrators under
her! Details of how the plan works and the generous hostess gifts you
can obtain can
be found here.
Rebecca and Dan are delightful hosts and they are
very happy to have found such a great community to be a part of. If you
would ever like to see Rebecca's stampin room, she would be very pleased to show
it to you! She can be reached at msbedelia@aol.com.
